I've always wanted to learn to speak brazilian portuguese... and now that i started listening to some brazilian so ngs, it's making me want to learn the language even more!!! =D

The Forth Santa Barbara Brazilian Carnaval 2007 brings 3 days of dynamic rhythms, dance, art, film, gastronomy and history of Brazil to the American Riviera. The events will be held Sat, Feb. 17, Sunday, Feb. 18, and Mon. Feb 19 in 3 different club locations in downtown Santa Barbara . The concept is to promote more than music and dance, or in other word, to bring and better exposure the Brazilian music, dance, film, art and gastronomy for the Santa Barbara community. The Santa Barbara Brazilian Carnaval production team have been trying since the year 2004, bring to the city of Santa Barbara a better and extended information about the biggest county South of the Border.

Among the headliners we will have over 30 performers during the 3 days that include 1 guest DJ directly from Brazil, Red Hot Samba Dancers Group, 1 soccer player, Capoeira Sul da Bahia, SambaJah band from Orange County and PraKantar band from Santa Barbara . Afro-Brazilian Music or "Axé" music and the sounds of Bahia; the best of Samba or Rio de Janeiro 's beats; and Marchinhas, Frevos and Maracatus from the state of Pernambuco will be mandatory and will keep the people moving. - Cachaça Gabriela
- Açúcar
- Gelo Picado

Preparo:
Corte um limão-taiti em quatro pedaços. Coloque 2 colheres (chá) de açúcar em um copo grande e misture com o suco de 2 pedaços do limão.
Acrescente Cachaça Gabriela, coloque os dois pedaços restantes do limão. Complete com gelo picado e mexa bem.

I am on my way to Curitiba to be with my love and I'm looking for a cheap ticket or...even better a frequent flyer voucher on American/or Delta airlines.
I'm tight on cash but have quite a few items for barter: 2 Armoires (one's a beautiful Indonesian style), I've also got two really FUN purple velvet couches (org. paid $5,000 for these but am looking to sell all of my stuff to make this trip happen). oh...I've got a
ProPlus II treadmill (org. paid $2,700 for this, it's big and great for runners in the winter season). I can give you all the specs on these items if you're interested.
I really need this ticket asap because it's getting difficult to book these flights due to the holiday season.

So which is it? Is it an "S" or a "Z". Why dont we spell America with a "K".... Amerika. Or how about Canada like this: Canuhduh... Ok, maybe that's a wee bit too extreme, but I do have a valid point don't I? Maybe that's why people here in the United States get confused and think that there's two bra_ils.... The one where Rio de Janiero is in and the one that the Amazon is in. Yeah, I'va actually spoken to a few of my fellow country folk here and have met some who didn't know that Rio de Janiero and the Amazon where actually in the same Bra_il (and believe it or not, they actually didn't have mullets or a twang! *Go figure*).
Hell, when I heard that we once had a president recently who thought Buenos Aries was the capitol of Bra_il (and his initials were "Daddy Bush") I started to laugh too...!
So come on all you folks down there in the south... get your act together and decide!!!
Well, ok maybe it doesn't have to be right now, I wouldn't want to rush you in a non-Bra_ilian fashion, I mean after all it is a nice day out at the beach, and we still have to get next years costume ready for Carnival, but at least pretend to work on it and it'll eventually happen right?.
Ah, to be as laid back as all you folks down there would be quite endearing.... It might releive some of the tension here in L.A. that's created from all the traffic. Oh wait, I forgot,... I've seen how they drive down there....(Especially in Porto Alegre,... it must be an Italian thing that never died out) ....so nevermind,... Just do a kind deed (you know...break a tree branch for me, isn't that the saying?) and help another ignorant American out (Ok, fine, I meant a person from the United States, I forgot that we are all Americans, North, Cental and South, right?...*duh!*) Educate me as to whether I should order my cup 'o Bra_il with an "S" or a "Z".
Brasil with an "S" soooo smooth and layed back like the cool breeze on a warm beach....
Brazil with a "Z", soooo sexy, hot and firey like the passionate culture and lanuage that draws ones soul to it...

It was Awesome!!! Electrifying!!! Such Energy. The music is still ringing in my head!!!
I just got back from a night at the Hollywood bowl where Jorge Ben, Margareth Menezes and Daude just played and it was an amazing show! People dancing in the isles all over the place. Many friends, great food.... I'm speechless. Here's check out some of the pictures:

I posted it in all my other tribes too...I have an idea? All of you should post it in a few of your tribes also.Help to spread the word...call your local cinema and make a request for it to be shown. I heard they are going to try and block it from being shown nationwide. It is not sceduled for release until the June 25th...this is our own kind of magical way to show our patriotism...”Viva la revolutione!!!”

The organization Moveon.org is trying to get groups out to view the film opening day (June 25th) or at least by opening weekend.

For those who have not heard-several Republican funded groups have started contacting theaters set to show the film trying to convince theater managers to not show it. Showing support of these theaters and this film would be a great boost to get the films message to the masses.
Even if you do not agree with what the film says, I'm sure you also do not agree with a politial party trying to dictate what films are available for you to choose to see or not either.

Given how devastating Michael Moore's new film Fahrenheit 9/11 is to President Bush's carefully crafted facade, it's hardly surprising that right-wing groups who call Moore a "domestic enemy" are using censorship and intimidation tactics to try to get it pulled from theaters. That's why we've got to do everything we can to make the opening a huge success. We're asking people to pledge to see the film on the opening night -- Friday, June 25th. (If you can only make it on Saturday or Sunday, that's OK too.)

There is also a link to register to say you will come out and support the film opening weekend. I'm not going to post the link here, since it seems to 'cookie' the info of the last person who typed anything in. Also it may open up your mail box to political mail correspondance.
