Re: Need help learning Brazilian Portuguese
Wed, February 11, 2009 - 11:05 PMWhen I took Portuguese in college it was Brazilian Portuguese.
Something my college instructor mentioned to me is that the D's are pronounced as "jha." So, rather than saying BOM DIA, you would say, BOM JEEAH.
I can't recomend a study book, but if you know Latin, it might come easier for you to learn Portuguese.
Bon noite,
Azeeza

Re: Need help learning Brazilian Portuguese
Thu, February 12, 2009 - 7:09 AMHi Mike.
I am Brazilian (living in the US, though) and I was looking for a good way to learn Greek (my partner is Greek); so I checked the Rosetta Stone training. The first thing I did was to check the Brazilian Portuguese one, so I could gauge how good the course is.
And it is really nice!
I bought the 3 levels for the Greek course. It is a little on the pricey side, but worth it. They don't use one single English word throughout the course, so you learn how to think in the language. If you have a Rosetta Stone store or booth (this one in New York is booth located in the Time Warner Building in Columbus Circle), drop by. They will show you how it works
ps. No affiliation to the Rosetta Stone here! I just like the product.
